Goals and audiences

A goal is an outcome you want help with. You can have several at once, each with its own audience.

Who can read your goal#

You choose which of your groups can read a goal. Gravity searches those groups’ networks for people who may help, along with your own Rolodex.

With no groups selected, the goal stays private and searches only your Rolodex. Joining a group doesn’t add it to your existing goals.

Other members can read a goal you share with them. Only you can edit it, read its matches, or start a search for it.

What to share and what to keep private#

The goal’s wording describes the outcome and the kind of person who could help. Write it in words you’re comfortable sharing with the groups you select.

Private details give Gravity more context for matching. They can include confidential plans, numbers, or what you’ve already tried. Only you can read them.

For example:

Goal: Meet seed investors who back developer tools.

Private details: We’re raising $2M. We have 40 paying teams and two angels committed.

Your private details aren’t shown to other members or included in introduction notes. Your agent should keep them separate from the wording you share.

Hiding a goal from a group#

You can hide a goal from a selected group while still searching that group’s networks. Its members won’t see the goal in that group. They may still read it through another group you share it with, or in a conversation you open with them about it.

Only you see which groups the goal is hidden from. Hiding it can’t take back something someone already read.

Updating or ending a goal#

You can change the wording, private details, or audience. Through MCP, saving does not start a search. Changes to matching inputs cancel an obsolete search; ask for a new search separately. The Gravity UI can save and start a replacement search together. Your goal and its conversations keep their identity.

Ending a goal archives its introduction chats and makes them read-only. An ended goal can’t be reopened; you can write a new one.

Ask your agent to create or edit a goal.
